Raiders Return to Action With Dartmouth on Tuesday

HAMILTON, N.Y. (9/19/11)
– The Colgate women's soccer team returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Dartmouth at 4 p.m. on Van Doren Field.

The Raiders are coming off a week without play. This will be their third home game of the season and ninth overall match.

RAIDERS' OFFENSE
Freshman Jenna Raepple and senior Jillian Kinter continue to lead the team's offense with a total of 17 points between them. Raepple, who is second in the Patriot League in points and goals, has a team-best nine points from four goals and one assist, while Kinter has two goals and four assists for eight points. The senior leads the league in assists and assists per game. The two are followed by freshman Caroline Brawner and Elise Amioka who have four points apiece.

Colgate continues to lead the league in points (47), goals (16), goals per game (2.00), assists (15) and assists per game (1.88).

ROOKIES STEPPING UP
The freshmen have made a significant contribution to the team's scoring this season, accounting for 20 of its 47 points and scoring nine of its 16 goals. All five freshmen have recorded at least two points this season, with Raepple leading the way with nine. She is followed by Caroline Brawner who has two goals for four points, and by Chelsea Roche, who has three points from one goal and one assist. Classmates Emily Manoogian and Jenna Gibney have scored one goal apiece.

SERIES
Colgate leads the all-time series against Dartmouth, owning a 3-2 record since the teams first met in 1993 at the Cornell Classic. This will be the first meeting between the two teams on Van Doren Field, having played two neutral games and two road games in Hanover, N.H. The Raiders won the last meeting 1-0 at the Dartmouth Nike Classic in 2010.

SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
The Big Green (2-4) is coming off a 2-0 loss to Boston College and a 1-0 shutout win over Maine last week. Prior to that, the team has suffered three losses to Rutgers, Texas and Texas A&M, and secured its first win against Vermont, 2-1 on Sept. 8.

Dartmouth is led by sophomore Marina Moschitto, freshman Tasha Wilkins and sophomore Chrissy Lozier. Moschitto leads the team with three points from one goal and one assist while Wilkins and Lozier have two points apiece from one goal each. In goal the team is led by rookie Tatiana Saunders who has played and started in five games this season and has a .719 save percentage from a total of 23 saves.

PATRIOT LEAGUE PRESEASON POLL
The team was picked to finish second in the 2011 Patriot League Preseason Poll voted by head coaches and sports information directors in the league. The Raiders, who had 79 points and four first-place votes, were projected to finish behind Army, which had 93 points and 10 first-place votes. Following Colgate was Lehigh with 75 points and two first-place votes.
