SCOUTING COLGATE (5-17, 2-5 PL)
The Raiders bounced back with a 97-86 win over Longwood on Wednesday (Feb. 2) after a tough double overtime loss to Navy on Saturday (Jan. 29).

Colgate jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first 4:30 and extended its lead to 27-10 midway through the first half and never looked back as it led from start to finish for the second time against Longwood this season.

Senior captain Joe Hoban finished with 22 points and 13 assists to record his first career double-double, while freshman Pat Moore scored a career-high 23 points off 10-of-12 shooting. Junior Mike Venezia also added a career-high 21 points, while classmate Yaw Gyawu pitched in 12 points to become the 28th Colgate player to score more then 1,000 points in a career. He also extended his double-digit scoring streak to nine games.

Colgate finished the game shooting 66 percent (33-of-50) from the field and 68.8 percent (11-of-16) from beyond the arc to score a season-high 97 points. The Raiders also won the battle on the boards 30-25 and held the Lancers to just 16.7 percent on the night from three-point range.

SCOUTING ARMY (11-11, 3-4 PL)
Army used a 12-for-26 performance from three-point range to cool off one of the hottest teams in the country in a 90-70 win at home against Bucknell on Saturday (Jan. 29). The Bison had the nation's fifth-longest winning streak at nine in a row, and were just the 11th team to start Patriot League play at 6-0.

Army defeated Bucknell for the first time since 2009 after losing both contests to the Bison last season, and snapped a three-game losing skid overall. With the game tied at 32 late in the first half, Army took the lead for good by closing the period on a 10-2 run for a 42-34 advantage at the break.

The lead stayed in that range until Army put together a 13-4 surge to put the game away with a 75-57 advantage with less than five minutes to go. The lead remained at 15 points or more the rest of the way as Army went on to the 90-70 win.

All five Army starters scored in double figures, led by 23 points for Jeremy Hence. Julian Simmons scored 15, while Ella Ellis had 14, Jason Pancoe scored 12 and Nathan Hedgecock added 11. Ellis averaged 21.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in two games last week, and made 15-of-23 shots overall and 9-of-12 from three-point range.

1,000 AND COUNTING
Junior forward Yaw Gyawu recently became the 28th player in school history to join the 1,000 point club. Gyawu leads Colgate in scoring this season with 13.0 points per game.

GYAWU ON A SCORING STREAK
Gyawu is currently riding an nine-game double digit scoring streak. During that time Gyawu has averaged 15.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He has reached double digits in scoring 17 times this season.

CLEANING THE GLASS
Junior center Nick Pascale is one of four student-athletes in the Patriot League to average six or more rebounds and one blocked shot per game. Pascale ranks third in the Patriot League with 1.2 blocked shots and sixth with 6.6 rebounds per game.

THE DAVIS FILE
Head coach Emmett Davis (St. Lawrence, 1984) is in his 13th year in charge at Colgate, owning the most wins in school history with 163.

During coach Davis' decade long tenure, the Colgate program has been a model of consistency. In nine of his 12 seasons, Davis has led the Raiders to either the upper division of the Patriot League standings or advanced the team to the semifinals or finals of the conference tournament. From 2001-2004 the Raiders finished with three consecutive regular season winning records (2001-02…17-10, 2002-03…14-13, and 2003-04…14-13) and in 2007-08 the Raiders tied the school record for wins in a season with 18.

Davis reached another career milestone in November 2005, as Colgate defeated Matt Doherty's Florida Atlantic team 78-74 earning coach Davis his 100th career victory making him just the fifth coach in school history to win 100 games.
