Men's Hoops Falls on "Senior Day" to Bucknell

– Junior Nick Pascale recorded his second double-double of the season but it wasn't enough as Colgate fell to Bucknell 77-69 on Senior Day at Cotterell Court.

After trailing 69-60 with 4:11 remaining the Raiders went on a 7-2 run to make the score 71-69 with 34.8 seconds remaining. But Bucknell was able to seal its 20th win of the season by forcing a turnover and knocking down six straight free throws.

Pascale finished with a game-high 18 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots to lead Colgate, while senior captain Joe Hoban scored 16 points and grabbed seven boards. Junior Yaw Gyawu also reached double digits with 13 points, while sophomore Mitch Rolls pitched in seven points and six assists.

Colgate (7-20, 4-8) opened the game knocking down its first four shots and built a 13-8 lead through the first four minutes of action. The Raiders then extended their lead to 28-18 midway through the half after freshman Pat Moore made back–to-back three pointers. The Bison would trim the lead to 28-24 after a pair of three's from Bryson Johnson, but Colgate would answer back with a three from Hoban to lead 31-24. The Raiders would maintain a seven point lead for the rest half until Enoch Andoh made a layup at the buzzer to make the score 38-33 at halftime. Pascale led the Raiders, who shot 56 percent, with nine points and seven rebounds.

Colgate scored the first six points of the second half to match its largest lead of the game 43-33. But Bucknell answered back with a 7-0 run, to make the score 43-40 with 17:27 remaining. Both teams would exchange baskets for the next five minutes before the Bison put together another 7-0 run to take a 55-51 lead with 11 minutes remaining. The Raiders would trim the lead to 57-56 with just over eight minutes left. But Bucknell answered back with a 12-4 run over the next four minutes to build its largest lead of the game 69-60.

Bucknell (20-8, 11-1) was led by Darryl Shazier and G.W. Boone who both recorded double-doubles. Shazier scored 11 points and dished out a game-high 10 assists, while Boone scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Cameron Ayers also scored a team-high 14 points.

Colgate will host Holy Cross on Wednesday, Feb. 23. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Cotterell Court and will be live on Patriot League All-Access.
