HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/16/11) – Colgate Athletics will be offering multiple promotions this weekend as the men's hockey team is playing its final two games of the season and men's basketball is set to host Bucknell.
First off, the Raider hockey team will be celebrating National Hockey Coaches Care Nights on Friday and Saturday against Dartmouth and Harvard. Colgate will be participating in the national fundraiser by offering different Raider signed memorabilia from past players and other Colgate athletics merchandise.
Fans will be able to purchase raffle tickets and each ticket will go into a raffle for a specific item. The winners will then be selected during the second intermission on Saturday night and fans will be asked to view a list as they exit to see if they won the item they chose.
“Hockey Coaches Care” is a non-profit organization that partners with the AHCA to help people in need in the amateur hockey community. In the past we have relied on donations from individuals and programs to help people in need. The organization has set a goal of $100,000 nationwide, so come out and support a good cause and win some great prizes.
In addition to the weekend long raffle, the Raiders will be giving away free Colgate Hockey T-shirts to the first 500 fans, courtesy of McKie Sports, at Friday night's game against 16th-ranked Dartmouth. Get there early and receive your shirt and help cheer the Raiders onto victory.
For the third-straight weekend, Gilligan's of Sherburne will be giving away free ice cream on Saturday night. Come try Raider's favorite brand of ice cream and his best flavor, Raider Passion. Gillligan's will also be out on Sunday afternoon to give more ice cream away at the men's basketball game at 2 p.m. as part of Slam Dunk Alzheimer's.
On Sunday, the men's basketball team is teaming up with Beta Theta Phi for an Alzheimer's awareness event. All fans that wear purple to the game against Bucknell receive free admission, while the first 500 people in attendance can get their hands on a Slam Dunk Alzheimer's sticker. Get to the game even earlier and be one of the first 100 people to receive a free foam finger courtesy of the ALANA Cultural Center at Colgate.
