Soccer Game Central
HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/4/11) – The Colgate women's soccer team will continue Patriot League play this weekend when it travels to Army and Holy Cross for a pair of road matchups. The team will first play the Black Knights on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. before taking on Holy Cross on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
The Raiders, who are on a four-game winning streak, are coming off a 3-0 shutout win over Bucknell in their opening league game last weekend. The team scored three goals in the first half to earn its second shutout win of the season and improve its overall record to 8-4.
Colgate, which was picked to finish second in the Patriot League Preseason Poll behind Army, will look for a pair of league wins this weekend.
JENKINS WINS PL DEFENSIVE PLAYER AWARD
Sophomore
Klara Jenkins was named the BRINE Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after her performance against the Bison last weekend. The midfielder contributed on both ends of the field, scoring the team's second goal and then making a defensive save in the 61st minute to help her team earn the shutout win. Jenkins has played in 11 games this season and has started in four.
SCORING MACHINE
The Raiders continue to be an offensive powerhouse in the league this season. As a team they lead the league in points (77), goals (26), goals per game (2.17), assists (25) and assists per game (2.08). Colgate is ranked first in the league in all but one of the offensive categories (shots).
TEAM LEADERS
The Raiders are led by freshman Jenna Repple and junior
Jillian Kinter who both have a league-high 15 points each. Raepple, who sits at the top of the league in shots and is second in goals and goals per games, has a team-best six goals and three assists, while Kinter, who leads the league in shots per game and is second in points per game and assists, has five goals and five assists. Behind them is senior co-captain
Maddie Malone who has two goals and a league-best six assists for 10 points.
RAIDERS WINNING WEEKLY AWARDS
The team has won several of the BRINE Patriot League Weekly Awards this season, including three Offensive Players of the Week, two Rookie Awards and one Defensive Player of the Week selection.

SERIES
Colgate leads the all-time series against Army, owning a 22-9-4 record since the teams first met in 1982. The Raiders have played 16 of these meetings in West Point, N.Y. and has a 9-6-1 record on the road. The Black Knights won the last meeting in overtime, 1-0, in the semi finals of the 2010 Patriot League Tournament in West Point, N.Y.
Colgate also leads the all-time series with Holy Cross 22-7-2. This will be the 16th meeting between the two teams in Worcester, Mass., with the Raiders owning an 11-3-1 record on the road. Colgate has won the last four meetings on the Crusaders' territory and also won the last meeting, 2-0, in 2010 on Van Doren Field.
SCOUTING ARMY
The Black Knights (8-2-2, 1-0 PL), who were picked to finish first in the Patriot League Preseason Poll, are on a three-game winning streak. The team is coming off a 2-0 shutout win over Holy Cross on Saturday for its first league win this season. Its only two losses this season were to Duke and Delaware, securing wins over Appalachian State, Seton Hall, Stetson, VMI, Stony Brook, Howard and Marist, and ties with Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart.
Army, which has a 6-1-2 record at home, is led by sophomore Kim An and seniors Errin Helbling and Julia Stallard. An, who leads the league in points, points per game, goals and goals per game, has a team-high 15 points from seven goals and one assist. She is followed by Helbling and Stallard who both have five points. Defending the net for the Black Knights is this week's BRINE Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, Monica Lee, who has a total of 50 saves for a .909 save percentage, has a 0.40 goals against average and an impressive nine shut outs.
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
The Crusaders (2-7-2, 0-1 PL) are coming off a 2-0 loss to Army in their first league game last weekend. The team, which was picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll, has two wins over Bryant and Central Connecticut, and has losses to Hartford, Providence, Maine, Fairfield, Quinnipiac and New Hampshire. Its only two ties this season were with Vermont and Rider.
Holy Cross is led by freshman Gina Righini and senior Liz Early. Righini has a team-high six points from three goals while Early has three points from one goal and one assist. In goal is freshman Carly McCabe who leads the league with a total of 59 saves and 6.56 saves per game.
PATRIOT LEAGUE PRESEASON POLL
Colgate was picked to finish second in the 2011 Patriot League Preseason Poll voted by head coaches and sports information directors in the league. The Raiders, who had 79 points and four first-place votes, were projected to finish behind Army, which had 93 points and 10 first-place votes. Following Colgate was Lehigh with 75 points and two first-place votes.
