FIELD HOCKEY GAME CENTRAL
HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/3/11) - The Colgate field hockey team will travel to Ithaca on Tuesday for a non-conference game at 4 p.m. against Cornell.
The Raiders lost this past weekend to Patriot League opponent Lafayette 5-0. The Raiders are now 0-1 in the Patriot League and 4-7 overall.
BIG SAVES
Despite the Raiders' loss to Lafayette, freshman goalie
Amanda DiDomizio made a season-high 17 saves in goal. Her previous record was 12 saves against Ball State. She is now posting a .760 save percentage, and has 98 saves on the season.
DEFENSIVE FORCE
Junior defender
Adriana Libutti was also instrumental in the Raider's defense on Saturday. Libutti recorded a career-high three defensive saves, which doubled her season total to six. Libutti has already tripled her career defensive saves, as she had only two entering the season this year.
NABHAN LEADING THE WAY
Sophomore
Olivia Nabhan leads the team in goals (5) and total points (12) after her two-goal performance at Brown on Sept. 25. It was her second two-goal game of the season; the first was in the season opener against Ball State. She was named to the Patriot League Honor Roll for her performance.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
The Cornell field hockey team is 3-5 on the season, and 0-3 in the Ivy League conference. The Big Red are 1-5 in their last six matches and are coming off a tough loss to Yale, losing 2-7.
Sophomore Hannah Balleza leads all players with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Balleza is the only Cornell player with more than one goal. Balleza was named Ivy-League Co-Rookie of the Year in 2010, and was also named Honorable Mention All-Ivy. The Big Red are also backed in goal by senior co-captain Alex Botte, who is posting a .740 save percentage. Botte was named First Team All-Ivy in 2010.
SERIES HISTORY
The two teams last met in 2010, and are closely matched, with the series record at 18-19-1 in Cornell's favor. The last time Colgate beat Cornell was in 2006, with a 3-2 victory in double overtime.
