FIELD HOCKEY GAME CENTRAL
HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/14/11) – The Colgate field hockey team will be back on the field for the first time in a week as the Raiders travel south to American for a 12 p..m. start at Jacobs Field.
Colgate enters the matchup with a 5-8 overall record and an 0-2 Patriot League mark. American comes into Saturday's game with a 6-5 mark and a 2-0 record in conference play. Live video will be available for the contest and can be accessed by the Field Hockey Game Central page.
RAIDERS DROP TOUGH 2-1 DECISION AT LEHIGH
Last week, Colgate fell to 0-2 in conference play after a tough 2-1 loss to Lehigh in its eighth one-goal game of the season. The Raiders got a great effort from
Amanda DiDomizio in net as she came up with nine saves.
Eliana Brown scored her second goal of the season, while co-captain
Peyton Hawkins added the assist. The last eight games have been split by the two teams at 4-4, but Colgate still owns the season series at 16-13-1.
SCORING TANDEM
Olivia Nabhan and
Lauren Dittman are tied for fifth in the league with five goals apiece and are eighth in points with 12. Dittman scored the gamewinner on Tuesday against Cornell for her fifth and has posted a two-goal game this year. Nabhan has had two goals in two games this season, including the season-opener. Colgate has won two of its three games when Nabhan scores.
ONE-GOAL GAME LITTERING SCHEDULE
The Raiders have played one-goal games in eight of their 13 games this season and are 4-4 in those games. Colgate has played one-goal games in three of the last four games and seven of the last nine. The Raiders lost their first two one-goal games and has won four of the last six.
PATRIOTLEAGUE UPDATE
American and Lafayette have faced off in the past two Patriot League title contests, and each team can take the first step towards making another trip a reality by clinching berths to the Patriot League Field Hockey Tournament on Saturday. The Eagles and Leopards both ran their records to 2-0 in League action last weekend. American put together a strong performance in a 4-0 win at Holy Cross, scoring all of its goals in the first half. Lafayette had to go down to the wire for its victory, scoring twice in the second half to go on to a 5-3 win at Bucknell.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
American entered the season as the 10th-ranked team in the nation, but since then the Eagles have posted a 6-5 record and have dropped out of the rankings. American, however, hasn't had trouble in league play as the Eagles have yet to give up a goal in two games and have a 2-0 record.
Jenn Bradley is the leading point scorer for American with 12 points on four goals and four assists and she has two gamewinners. Alex McMackin is tops on the team with five goals and has also added one assist for 11 points, while Tatum Dyer has 10 points on three goals and four helpers. The Eagles have gotten six gamewinners from five different players.
In goal, Stephanie Burry has started six of eight games and has a 2-5 record and a 2.02 goals against average. She has only made 13 saves on 24 shots. Ashley Dalisera has appeared in five games with four starts and has a 4-0-0 record and a 0.89 GAA. Each keeper has two shutouts on the year.
SERIES HISTORY
These two schools have played 14 times since 2001 and American has won all 14 meetings. Last year, the Eagles defeated the Raiders 6-1 at Tyler's Field and then 8-1 in the Patriot League Semifinals down at Jacobs Field.
