SCOUTING COLGATE (3-15, 1-3 PL)
The Raiders are coming off a 80-79 win over Lehigh on Wednesday (Jan. 19). The win was the first for Colgate in Patriot League play this season and snapped a three game losing streak to the Mountain Hawks. The Raiders have also won back-to-back games for the first time this season.
After trailing 63-51 with 12:20 remaining in the second half, Colgate fought back to eventually take a 78-77 lead in the final 37 seconds. After a C.J. McCollum layup gave Lehigh a 79-78 lead the Raiders called a time out with 11 seconds remaining.
Mitch Rolls then knocked down a 15-foot jumper with just over five seconds remaining to give the Raiders the lead. The Mountains Hawks pushed the ball down the court as McCollum tried for a game winner, but his shot came up short, to give Colgate its first win over Lehigh since the 2008-09 season.
Rolls finished the game with 13 points and three steals, while junior
Sterling Melville scored a career-high 15 points. Senior captain
Joe Hoban also scored 13 points to go along with a team-high six assists, while juniors
Yaw Gyawu and
Mike Venezia pitched in 12 points apiece.
Gyawu and Hoban lead Colgate in scoring averaging 12.7 and 9.1 points per game, respectively, while
Nick Pascale is the leader on the glass with 6.4 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL (13-7, 4-0 PL)
The Bison enter Saturday's game in sole possession of first place in the Patriot League with a perfect 4-0 record after topping Lafayette 75-56 on Wednesday (Jan. 19). Bucknell is 4-0 for the first time since its perfect season in 2006.
Bucknell is led by Mike Muscala, who is averaging 15.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Muscala was recently named the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week after averaging 28.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks in victories over American and Holy Cross last week.

HOBAN STEALING THE SHOW

THE DAVIS FILE
Head coach Emmett Davis (St. Lawrence, 1984) is in his 13th year in charge at Colgate, owning the most wins in school history with 161.
During coach Davis' decade long tenure, the Colgate program has been a model of consistency. In nine of his 12 seasons, Davis has led the Raiders to either the upper division of the Patriot League standings or advanced the team to the semifinals or finals of the conference tournament. From 2001-2004 the Raiders finished with three consecutive regular season winning records (2001-02…17-10, 2002-03…14-13, and 2003-04…14-13) and in 2007-08 the Raiders tied the school record for wins in a season with 18.
Davis reached another career milestone in November 2005, as Colgate defeated Matt Doherty's Florida Atlantic team 78-74 earning coach Davis his 100th career victory making him just the fifth coach in school history to win 100 games.
