Women's Soccer Faces Canisius on Sunday

HAMILTON, N.Y. (9/21/10) –
The Colgate women's soccer team will continue its two-game winning streak on the road when it faces Canisius on Sunday, Sept 26 at noon in Buffalo, N.Y. The team will not be playing Cornell on Wednesday and the Sunday game against Canisius will be at noon and not 1 p.m.

The Raiders (3-6) are coming off a 2-0 win against Vermont last weekend and a 2-0 shutout win against Albany earlier in the week. Sophomore midfielder Alyssa Manoogian (Peabody, Mass.) and junior forward Danielle Wessler (Port Republic, N.J.) both scored a goal each for the Raiders on Sunday against Vermont while sophomore forward Jillian Kinter (Newburyport, Mass.) and senior forward Anna Baldwin (Woodbury, Conn.) scored a goal each against Albany.

AWARD WINNER
Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Walsh (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Week and the BRINE Goalkeeper of the Week earlier this week for her impressive performances against Vermont and Albany last week. She continues to lead the league in total saves with 63 and saves per game with seven and is tied for second in shutouts with three.

STATISTIC LEADERS
Kinter leads the team in scoring with three goals and in points with six while Manoogian and Baldwin are tied at second with two goals and one assist each.

SCOUTING CANISIUS
Canisius (4-4) is coming off a 3-0 win against Buffalo and a 2-1 loss against St. Bonaventure at the Puma Tournament last weekend in Olean, N.Y. The Golden Griffins are led by junior midfielder Kelly Reinwald and freshman forward Brianna Smith who share 21 points between the two of them. Reinwald leads the team in points with 11 off of four goals and three assists while Smith leads the team in scoring with five goals.
