HAMILTON, N.Y. (9/1/10) - The Colgate women's soccer team returns to action this weekend when it travels to Hanover, N.H., for the Dartmouth Nike Classic. The Raiders (0-3) will play the Big Green (0-0), on Friday, Sept. 3 at 7.00 p.m. and then Brown (0-0) on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 12 p.m.
After a tough weekend on the road with losses against No.17 Rutgers and Syracuse, the Raiders are going into this weekend's games looking for their first win. Colgate is tied at 2-2 in the all-time series against Dartmouth but leads 3-2 against Brown.
TOUGH BEGINNINGS
The Raiders have played two nationally-ranked opponents in their first three games; No. 17 Virginia on Aug 22. and No. 17 Rutgers on Aug. 27. The two were ranked 17th in two separate weeks.
RAIDERS' OFFENSE COMES ALIVE
Sophomore forward
Jillian Kinter (Newburyport, Mass.) and senior forward
Anna Baldwin (Woodbury, Conn.) came alive for the Raiders, scoring a goal each this past weekend. Kinter's goal came from a stunning header that found the back of the net against Rutgers and Baldwin's goal came against Syracuse when she lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper into the top right corner. Both Kinter and Baldwin lead the team in points with two each.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
The Big Green completed its 2009 season with an overall record of 10-7 and a third-place finish in the Ivy League. The 2010 Dartmouth squad returns 18 players from last year's team, six of whom were starters.
SCOUTING BROWN
The Brown women's soccer team finished the 2009 season with a 5-9-1 record and a 2-5 mark in the Ivy League. This season, the Bears return seven starters along with the top three scorers from last season.
