HAMILTON, N.Y.  (2/13/2010) – Jason Williams (Plattsburgh, N.Y.)
posted his first multi-goal game of his collegiate career, while Sean Carty (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) tallied his first career multi-point game as Colgate blasted Brown 6-2 in an ECAC Hockey clash, Saturday evening at Starr Rink.

With the victory, Colgate improved to 6-2-1 against the Ivy League on the season, which becomes the first time the Raiders have secured a regular-season winning record against the Ancient Eight since the 2004-05 campaign.

Colgate, which evened its overall record at 12-12-5, 9-7-1 in league play, cemented the contest with two shorthanded goals in the span of 45 seconds in the early stages of the third period to complete the season sweep over the Bears.  Colgate's penalty kill was successful eight of nine times.

Holding a 2-1 lead after the first period, Nick Prockow (Montreal, Que.) won the battle behind the net and got the puck to Brian Day (Danvers, Mass.).  The junior came around the side of the net and backhanded a pass to the charging Carty in the slot and the senior ripped a shot by Anthony Borelli's glove for the eventual game winner at 3:16 of the second.

The Raiders put the game away early in the third.  With Corbin McPherson (Folsom, Calif.) in the box for hooking, Jeremy Price (Milton, Ont.) collected the puck in the neutral zone and started an odd man with Day.  The freshman threw the puck on net from the left wing and Day deflected to pass into the net 52 seconds into the third.

Seconds later, Brown coughed the puck up in its offensive zone.  Williams made the initial play and got the puck to Ethan Cox (Richmond, B.C.) who in turn passed it back to the senior.  Williams rifled a slap shot high glove side for his sixth of the campaign, second of the evening.

Brown closed to with three at 10:53 of the third on a six on four power play as Harry Zolnierczyk beat Alex Evin (Castlegar, B.C.) with a deflection in very tight quarters for his 10th of the season.  On the power play, Colgate answered less than three minutes later as Wade Poplawski (Winnipeg, Man.) held the puck in the offensive zone and passed it to David McIntyre (Pefferlaw, Ont.) who fired on net.  The rebound was kicked out to Robbie Bourdon (Ile Bizard, Que.) and the freshman punched it in for his eighth of the year at 13:13.

Colgate jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the opening period.  Prockow got things rolling at 2:53 as the sophomore netted his sixth of the year from Carty and Adam Corrin (Winnipeg, Man.).  After Brown knotted the game at 1-1 on a score by Sean McMonagle at 8:43, the Raiders took the lead for good with 40 seconds left as Williams blasted a one-timer from the top of the right circle.  Kurtis Bartliff (Clinton, Ont.) and Day posted assists on the senior's goal.

Evin stopped 27 of 29 shots en route to moving to 7-6-3 on the year.  The sophomore registered over half of his saves in the second period with 15.  Borelli stopped 19 shots before being sent to the bench following Williams' shorthanded goal.  Mike Clemente saved eight in the final 14:32.

Colgate returns to action Tuesday evening as it hosts its nationally-ranked archrival, Cornell.  Gametime is set for 7 p.m. start at Starr Rink.  The game will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports out of Syracuse.
