SCOUTING COLGATE (0-9)
The Raiders are coming off a 78-57 setback to Maine on Sunday (Dec. 19) at the Alfond Arena and have started 0-9 for the second-straight season, the most losses to start a season since 1996-97 when the team finished 12-16 overall. Colgate's worst start was 0-13 during the 1986-87 season; the team finished the season 4-23.

Colgate fell behind 26-6 to start the game and 40-21 at halftime, and could not recover in the loss at Maine. Freshman Pat Moore (Utica, N.Y.) was the only Raider to finish in double figures with 13 points, while Yaw Gyawu (Lilburn, Ga.), Nick Pascale (DeWitt, N.Y.) and Brandon James (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) each scored eight.

Gyawu and classmate Mike Venezia (Westfield, N.J.) lead Colgate in scoring averaging 12.0 and 9.2 points per game, respectively. Gyawu is also the leader on the boards with 5.0 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING ALBANY (6-6)
The Great Danes enter Wednesday's game 6-6 overall and have won five of their last six contests after a 77-57 win over Mount Saint Mary's on Saturday (Dec. 18).

Albany has a balanced attack with three players averaging 13 or more points per game. Logan Aronhalt leads the team in scoring with 17.9 points per game, while Tim Ambrose is just behind him with 17.3 per game. Mike Black is averaging 13.5 per game, while Luke Devlin is averaging 5.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

CLOSING IN ON 1,000
Junior forward Yaw Gyawu leads Colgate in scoring this season with 12.0 points per game and is closing in on 1,000 points in his career. Gyawu currently has 831 points, 169 away from becoming the 28th player in school history to join the 1,000-point club.

RAIDERS ANNOUNCE 2010-11 TEAM CAPTAINS
Head coach Emmett Davis has announced that senior Joe Hoban along with juniors Mike Venezia and Yaw Gyawu have been selected as team captains for the 2010-11 season. The captain's selection was the result of a team vote. Venezia is serving as a captain for the second straight season.

THE DAVIS FILE
Head coach Emmett Davis (St. Lawrence, 1984) is in his 13th year in charge at Colgate, owning the most wins in school history with 158.

During coach Davis' decade long tenure, the Colgate program has been a model of consistency. In nine of his 12 seasons, Davis has led the Raiders to either the upper division of the Patriot League standings or advanced the team to the semifinals or finals of the conference tournament. From 2001-2004 the Raiders finished with three consecutive regular season winning records (2001-02…17-10, 2002-03…14-13, and 2003-04…14-13) and in 2007-08 the Raiders tied the school record for wins in a season with 18.

Davis reached another career milestone in November 2005, as Colgate defeated Matt Doherty's Florida Atlantic team 78-74 earning coach Davis his 100th career victory making him just the fifth coach in school history to win 100 games.
