Men's Basketball Topped by Dartmouth, 80-63

– Colgate freshman guard Pat Moore (Utica, N.Y.) and sophomore center John Brandenburg (St. Louis, Mo.) each scored career-highs, but that wasn't enough as the Raiders fell to Dartmouth 80-63, Saturday afternoon at Leede Arena.

Moore and sophomore guard Mitch Rolls (Coffeyville, Kan.) each scored a team-high 14 points, while Brandenburg and senior guard Mike Venezia (Westfield, N.J.) pitched in 10 points apiece. Rolls also led the team with a season-high seven assists, while sophomore forward Brandon James (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) recorded six rebounds.

Colgate (0-5) was able to trim the Big Green's lead to 40-37 after Moore made his second three-pointer of the game with 15:31 remaining, but that was as close as the Raiders would get as Dartmouth responded with an 18-6 run to build a 15 point lead with 7:44 remaining. Colgate would make one final run to get within 63-55 in the closing minutes, but Dartmouth was able to seal the win at the free throw line making 11 of its final 12 attempts.

Dartmouth (2-4) opened the game with a 7-3 run in the first 2:29 of the game, but the Raiders were able to respond and take the lead 11-9 five minutes later after Moore made his first three-pointer of the game. The Big Green would build a 26-16 lead with 7:52 remaining, but Colgate would close the half with a 13-8 run to enter the locker room trailing 34-29. Rolls led the Raiders with nine points at the half, while Venezia scored eight.

Dartmouth had five players score in double figures and was led by Clive Weeden who finished with his third career double-double off 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Colgate will head home to face New Hampshire on Saturday, Dec. 4. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Cotterell Court.
