FIELD HOCKEY GAME CENTRAL
HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/4/10) – The Colgate field hockey team will be hosting its rivals from the south in Cornell for its final non-conference game on Wednesday night at Tyler's Field.

OPENING THE PATRIOT LEAGUE SEASON
The Raiders opened conference play this past weekend with a 5-0 loss to Lafayette. Senior captain
Kirsten Lalli (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) pushed aside nine shots and rookie
Caitlin Zolet (Potomac, Md.) also saw time and made three stops.
RAIDER STATISTICS
Sophomore
Kendall Zaharris (Baltimore, Md.) and senior
Laura Denenga (Harare, Zimbabwe) are the offensive leaders for Colgate. Zaharris tied the single-game record for assists with three against Siena on Sept. 15. She has a total of six on the season, which is fourth among Patriot Leaguers. Denenga continues to lead in goals with seven on the year. The seven tallies put her tied at the top in the league with Christine Fingerhuth of American.
STOPPING SHOTS
Lalli enters the midweek matchup with a total of 106 saves in 11 games played. For the first time this season, she is below 10 saves a game as she is averaging 9.64 saves per game. She leads the Patriot League in save percentage at .752.
LOOKING FOR A STRETCH RUN
After this week's matchup with Cornell, the Raiders only four games remaining and all are coming in league play. It starts this Saturday against Lehigh at 12 p.m. at Tyler's Field. After one weekend of play, American, Bucknell and Lafayette are all on top of the standings with wins during the first weekend.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell comes to Hamilton with a 6-3 mark overall and a 2-1 record in Ivy League play. The Big Red is 1-2 over its last three, including a loss to No. 3 Virginia. Cornell had great start to the Ivy League season with wins over Penn and Columbia, but dropped its last game to Yale by a slim 3-2 margin.
Catie De Stio leads the team with 15 points on six goals and three assists. Her six tallies are tied with Hannah Balleza for the tops on the team. The rookie is second on the squad with 13 points after adding an assist this season. De Stio has an incredible amount of shots with 54 and 32 shots on goal. The two each have two game-winning goals as well. In net, Alex Botte has seen action in all nine games and has given up 19 goals. She has recorded 57 saves and a .750 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY
Colgate holds a slim 18-17-3 advantage in the series, but the Big Red has taken the last two games from the Raiders. The teams first met back in 1972 with Colgate coming away with a 2-1 win. In the last five matchups, Cornell holds a 3-2 advantage.
