Football to Host Holy Cross on Saturday

Colgate has outscored its opponents 122-16 over the last three games.

Sat., Oct. 23 – vs. Holy Cross (Hamilton, N.Y.), 1:00 p.m.

The Colgate Raiders (4-2, 1-0) will host Patriot League foe Holy Cross (3-4, 0-1) on Saturday, Oct. 23. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m., and will be aired live on Time Warner Cable Sports. The Raiders carry a 12-game home winning streak into Saturday's contest, and have not lost at home against Holy Cross since 2000.

THE SERIES
This will be the 73rd meeting between Colgate and Holy Cross, with the Crusaders leading the all-time series 38-29-5. Holy Cross won last season 42-28 in Worcester, Mass.

THE COACHES
Colgate head coach Dick Biddle, who has the most wins in school history, is in his 15th season at the helm of the Raiders. His overall record is 117-53, and is 10-4 against Holy Cross. Biddle has won eight or more games in seven seasons during his career.

Holy Cross head coach Tom Gilmore is in his seventh season with the Crusaders and has compiled an overall mark of 42-32 and is 2-4 against Colgate.

VOTE FOR BIDDLE
Colgate head coach Dick Biddle is up for the 2010 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award voted on by fans. The award provides each coach with $50,000 to donate to the charity or charities of his choice, as well as a $20,000 grant to donate to his school's alumni association. HOLY CROSS NOTEBOOK
The Crusaders (3-4, 0-1) are coming off a road loss to Dartmouth 27-19, and are 0-1 in the Patriot League after falling to Georgtown 17-7 during week four of the season. Holy Cross is led on offense by senior quarterback Ryan Taggart and senior wide receivers Luke Chmielinski and Bill Edger.

Taggart, has 1264 yards passing averaging 180.6 per game with 10 touchdowns, while Chmielinski and Edger have combined for 65 receptions and 705 yards and six touchdowns receiving. Edger leads the team with 377 yards and five touchdowns while Chmielinski has caught 34 passes for 328 yards.

On defense Holy Cross is led by Mude Ohimor, the Patriot League Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, and C.J. Martin. Ohimor has 20 tackles and one sack this season, while Martin leads the team with 60 tackles. Alex Johnson leads the team with two interceptions.

EACHUS AWARDED AFTER RECORD-BREAKING PERFORMANCE
Junior running back Nate Eachus was named the FCS, CFPA, Patriot League, ECAC and College Sporting News Running Back of the Week following his performance against Cornell on Saturday (Oct. 16).

Eachus ran for a school and Patriot League record 291 yards and scored three touchdowns as Colgate whipped Cornell 44-3 at at Schoellkopf Field.

Eachus, a Walter Payton Award finalist, broke the Patriot League record of 282 yards set by Bucknell's Jabu Powell against Cornell in 2000, and also eclipsed the Colgate mark of 280 yards set by Jamaal Branch in 2003 against Holy Cross.

Eachus has rushed for 200 yards or more six times in his career, and leads the nation with 169.3 yards per game this year, nearly 14 yards per game ahead of his closest competitor. Eachus has 1,016 yards and 12 touchdowns for the season.

EACHUS NAMED TO WALTER PAYTON AWARD WATCH LIST
Junior running back Nate Eachus has joined the race for the 2010 Walter Payton Award, sponsored by Fathead.com. The Payton Award is in its 24th season and is the Football Championship Subdivision's top individual honor.

Eachus leads the nation with 169.3 yards per game this year, nearly 14 yards per game ahead of his closest competitor. Eachus has 1,016 yards and 12 touchdowns for the season. He has also caught nine passes for 91 yards which ranks second on the team.

SULLIVAN BREAKS PATRIOT LEAGUE RUSHING RECORD
Senior quarterback Greg Sullivan recently broke the Patriot League record for most rushing yards gained by a quarterback in a career with 2,112. Sullivan is second on the team and Patriot League in rushing this season averaging 71.0 yards per game.

SULLIVAN SEMI-FINALIST FOR WILLIAM V. CAMPBELL TROPHY
Senior quarterback Greg Sullivan has been named a semi-finalist for the 2010 William V. Campbell Trophy. The National Football Foundation gives the award, formerly known as the Draddy Trophy, to a premier scholar-athlete in college football.

Sullivan, who was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for the second straight year last season, is one of 28 semi-finalists named from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

DIMASSA IS A TACKLING MACHINE
Senior linebacker Chris DiMassa is currently second in the Patriot League in tackling with a total of 60, which equals 10.0 per game. The last Raider to lead the league in tackling was Mike Gallihugh with 123 in 2007.

600 AND COUNTING
The Colgate football team became just the 15th program in FCS history to reach 600 wins after dismantling Cornell 44-3 on Saturday. The Raiders are also the ninth winningest program in the FCS over the last decade. Since 2000, Colgate has posted a recorded 86-37 and won four Patriot League titles.

CAREER RUSHING CHART
Tailback Nate Eachus, a two-time All-Patriot First Team selection, is climbing up the Colgate record books where he is fourth in rushing touchdowns (38) and seventh in rushing yards (2,867).

THE BIDDLE ERA
Colgate head coach Dick Biddle is in his 15th season with the Raiders. Biddle has an overall mark of 117-53. He has achieved the best winning percentage (.691) of any Colgate coach with seven or more years at the helm of the Raiders. Biddle is also the first Colgate coach to ever record nine straight seasons with seven or more victories.

He has been named Patriot League Coach of the Year four times while guiding the Raiders to six Patriot League titles and six appearances in the FCS (formally I-AA) playoffs.

In 2003, Biddle was named the American Football Coaches Association Division I-AA National Coach of the Year after leading the Raiders to a 15-1 record, and to the national championship game of the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.

COLGATE VS. NON-CONFERENCE TEAMS UNDER BIDDLE
In 15 seasons under head coach Dick Biddle, the Raiders are 50-35 against non-conference teams for a winning percentage of .593. They have a 35-8 mark against the Ivy League.

COLGATE VS. PATRIOT LEAGUE TEAMS UNDER BIDDLE
In the last 15 seasons, the Raiders are 67-18 against Patriot League teams under head coach Dick Biddle for a winning percentage of .793. They have lost to Lehigh six times, Bucknell four times, Holy Cross four, Fordham and Lafayette twice.
