Raiders Fall at Bucknell, 60-47

 
LEWISBURG, Pa. (1/23/10) -  The Colgate women's basketball team fell to Patriot League opponent Bucknell, 60-47, on Saturday evening at the Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg, Pa. With the loss, the Raiders drop to 6-13 overall and are now 1-4 in the conference. The Bison improve to 6-12 overall and hold a 2-3 mark in league play.
 
Junior Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) led the Raiders with 13 points, going 5-15 from the floor. Classmate Krista Moser (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and added six points, while sophomore Tricia Oakes (Evergreen, Colo.) finished with eight points and six boards.
 
 Bucknell's Rachel Voss led all scorers with 20 points and had nine rebounds while Cosima Higham finished with a game-high 13 points.
 
The Bison jumped out to an early nine point lead, 11-2, just under six minutes into the first half but it took the Raiders less than a minute to pull within two points after going on a 7-0 run.  From there the two teams traded baskets, as the Bison held just a one point lead, 18-17 with 5:19 left in the half. Voss connected on a three followed by two lay-ups to put Bucknell back on top, 27-19. Kozlowski scored once more for the Raiders to close out the half down by six, 27-21.
 
 Bucknell opened the second half with a 7-0 run to gain a 13 point advantage before the Raiders got back on the board. Kozlowski sparked an 11-2 run for the Raiders, scoring seven of her 13 points in just four minutes. Oakes and sophomore Kelly Korkowski (Williamsburg, Va.) also added baskets for Colgate as they came within four, 36-32, with 12:51 remaining. It was as close as the Raiders would get for the game however, as the Bison led by as much as 17 at one point.
 
The Raiders will be back in action this Wednesday, Jan. 27, when they travel to Worcester, Mass. to face Holy Cross at 7 p.m.
