Colgate Swimming to Host Cornell

Caren Guyett was a quadruple winner against Bucknell

The Colgate men's and women's swimming & diving teams return to action as they host Cornell, Saturday at Lineberry Natatorium.  The meet begins at 1 p.m.

EVENTS
 400 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 200 Fly, 50 Free, 1-Meter Diving, 100 Free, 200 Back, 200 Breast, 500 Free, 100 Fly, 3-Meter Diving, 100 IM, 200 Free Relay.

RECORDS
The Raider men are 0-5 on the season, dropping decisions to Lehigh, Boston College, Boston U, Dartmouth and Bucknell.  Colgate's women are 3-3 overall with wins over Boston College, Dartmouth and Bucknell and losses to Penn State, West Virginia and Boston U.  The Raider women will be looking to stretch their home pool win streak to 10 consecutive wins.  The last time Colgate suffered defeat at Lineberry was on October 12, 2007 versus instate rival Syracuse.

The Cornell men are 4-2 overall including a most recent 169-131 victory over Yale, last Sunday in New Haven.  The Big Red women are 2-4 overall, which includes a most recent 203-97 loss to Yale.

LAST TIME OUT
The Colgate women rallied from a 23-point deficit at one point to pull out a 156-142 victory over Patriot League rival, Bucknell, last Saturday at Lineberry.  Caren Guyett was a quadruple winner while Emma Santoro was a triple winner.  The Raiders pulled within eight following a one-two finish in the 100 fly by Erin McGraw and Lia Kunnapas.  Colgate grabbed the advantage in the next event as Guyett, McGraw and Erica Derlath claimed the top three spots in the 400 IM.  Up by five heading into the final event, the Raiders cemented victory by winning the 400 free relay.

 The Raider men fell 192-96 to Bucknell.  Colgate claimed first place points in the final two events as Devon Healy was credited with the win in the 400 IM and the 400 free relay team of Dan Sweeney, Costas Hadjipateras, Robert Rutkowski and Tucker Gniewek swam the 10th fastest time in the program's history (3:09.63) to get first place points.

LAST TIME VERSUS CORNELL

Women: Colgate captured firsts in 10 events; swept the top three places in two events, and posted first and second place efforts in seven races in a 169-129 victory over Cornell, January 17 in Ithaca.  The 40-point spread was the closest margin of victory for the Raiders during the 2008-09 campaign.  Caitlin Curran, Kim Siembieda, Erica Derlath and Ashley Bottger were all double winners in the victory.

Men:  Colgate fell to Cornell 179-102 last year in Ithaca.  The Raiders received first place points in four events – two coming from Devon Healy (50 free, 400 IM).  Trevor Healy won the 200 breast, while Costas Hadjipateras copped first place points in the 100 fly.

 NEXT UP
Colgate will compete on back-to-back days next weekend.  The Raiders will travel to face Binghamton, next Saturday.  The meet starts at 1 p.m.  On January 24, UMass comes to Lineberry Natatorium.  The meet versus the Minutemen begins at 11 a.m.
