LEWISBURG, Pa. (4/26/09) - The Colgate women's tennis team lost in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament Saturday afternoon after falling, 4-0, to Army.
Defending champions, Army, dropped the Raiders in doubles action winning both the first and third doubles spots. Duo Elise DeRose (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Cameron Williams (Winnetka, Ill.) fell, 8-0, to Niki Flach and Michael Tollerton in the No. 1 spot. At third doubles, Alexandra Erickson (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Cameron Thaney (Rochester, N.Y.) were downed, 8-0 by Sara Giles-Madden and Robie Verano.
In singles action, DeRose fell to Annie Houghton, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 position, while Williams was blanked by Kristin Beehler, 6-0, 6-0, at fourth singles. Jackie Stimmel (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) fell to tournament co-MVP Robbie Verano, 6-2, 6-1, at sixth singles, to secure a win for Army.
