Knox Sets Stadium Record at Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. (4/12/09)—Colgate University senior Curry Knox (Seattle, Wash.) set two school records and the Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium record in the 100-meter dash Saturday, April 11, at the Bison Outdoor Classic.

Knox ran a personal-best and school record time of 11.80 in the 100-meter dash topping her own record of 12.01, which she set at the 2006 Patriot League Championships. Her record setting time is the fastest time posted in the Patriot League this season and is also an ECAC qualifying mark.
 
Knox also ran a personal-best and school record time in the 100-meter hurdles. She finished third in the event with a time of 14.53. Her time is the fastest in the Patriot League this season and an ECAC qualifying mark.
 
Knox along with senior Ashley Mecone (Hopkinton, Mass.), sophomore Michele Miller (Silver Spring, Md.), and junior Ashley Niness (Berwyn, Pa.), won the 4x100 relay with a time of 48.37, the teams second best time this season. 
 
Miller also competed in a pair of events finishing in the top-10 in both. She finished 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time 25.42, her best time this season, then followed with a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.24. Miller's time in the 200-meter dash is the fifth best time in the Patriot League this season.
 
In the distance events sophomore Julie Tarallo (Easton, Mass.) posted a personal-best time of 37:43.99 in the 10,000-meter run while freshman Kendal Lyons (Wilton, Conn.) set the Colgate freshman record in the 1,500-meter run with a 4:44.63. Both times are in the Patriot League top-10 this season. Tarallo's time is fourth, while Lyons' time is eighth.
 
As for the field events junior Sarah Chabal (Hummelstown, Pa.) set a personal-record in the triple jump with a mark of 11.33m (37' 2.25”). Chabal's jump is the second best in the Patriot League this season and the third best in Colgate history.
 
The Raiders will continue their outdoor season on April 18, at the Moravian Invitational.
