HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/5/09) - John W. Beyer Head Men's Soccer Coach Erik Ronning has announced the 2009 recruiting class for Colgate University Men's Soccer. Signing National Letters of Intent are Michael Garzi (New Milford, CT/South Kent), Patrick Letourneau (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom HS), George McFarland (Haverford, PA/Episcopal Academy), and Mike Reidy (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas HS). Shane Conlin (Randolph, NJ/Delbarton HS), and Wade Martin (St. Louis, MO/John Burroughs) have also committed to Colgate accepting offers of admissions. All will begin their careers as Raiders in the fall of 2009.
A very well balanced and versatile group of student athletes, the Colgate Soccer Class of 2013 consists of one forward, three midfielders, and two defenders.
“I am very excited about the addition of this group of young men to the Colgate Soccer program” said John W. Beyer Head Men's Soccer Coach Erik Ronning. “These 6 young men will make an immediate contribution to Colgate Soccer on the field, in the classroom, and in the Hamilton community.”
Ronning added, “We have added players that immediately address our program needs on the field. They are all very driven, competitive, athletic and skilled. Most importantly, they are winners who are highly motivated, high character individuals, and will exemplify what it means to play soccer at Colgate University.”
“I am confident this group will help this program achieve greater heights in the years to come, and help this program continue to compete for Patriot League Championships, return to the NCAA tournament, and raise the bar for success.”
