Wejnert Scores 15 in Loss to Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. (2/21/09) -   Tayler Wejnert (Ramsey, N.J.) scored a game-high 15 points but the Colgate women's basketball team fell to Bucknell, 53-35, in Lewisburg, Pa. on Saturday evening.

 

Bucknell gained an eight point lead, 10-2, seven minutes into the game.  Three minutes later the Bison had upped their advantage to 15 points, 17-2.  Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) hit the Raiders first field goal of the game, from behind the arc to make it 19-5, with just under seven minutes left in the half.  Bucknell finished the half with a 7-4 run to close the half with a 26-9 advantage.

 

The Raiders shot 9.1 percent (2-22) from the field in the first half and 60.0 percent (3-5) from the free throw line.  The Bison finished the half shooting 30.0 percent (10-33) from the floor just slightly out-rebounded the Raiders 22-21 in the half.

 

The Bison were able to gain an 18 point lead in the opening minutes of the second half but the Raiders responded by going on a 10-4 run to close Bucknell's lead to 12, 41-29, with just under seven minutes left in the game.  The Bison however, were able to hold on to their lead to win the game.

 

Colgate improved to 24.1 percent (13-54) shooting overall and 50.0 percent (6-12) from three-point range.  Bucknell shot 34.8 percent (23-66) for the game.  The Raiders out-rebounded the Bison, 45-41.

 

The Raiders will next face Holy Cross this Wednesday, in Worcester, Mass.  Colgate will return to Cotterell Court Saturday, Feb. 28 to close out the regular season against Navy.
