Women’s Basketball Faces Bucknell on Saturday

HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/20/09) -   The Colgate University women's basketball team is set to take on Patriot League opponent Bucknell this Saturday at Davis Gymnasium in Lewisburg, Pa.  Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

 

This will mark 51st meeting between the two teams with Bucknell leading the all-time series 32-18.  The Bison defeated Colgate earlier this season, 86-54, on Jan. 24.  Bucknell is currently in a four-way tie for third place in the Patriot League standings, while Colgate sits in eighth place, one game behind Lafayette.

 

The Raiders head into Saturday's game after suffering losses to both American and Lehigh this past week.  Tricia Oakes (Evergreen, Colo.) led the Raiders in scoring during their last meeting with the Bison, registering 10 points and seven rebounds.  Senior Gretchen Polinksi (Mansfield, Ohio) and sophomore Tayler Wejnert (Ramsey, N.J.) contributed nine points apiece for the Raiders.  Wejnert leads Colgate in scoring this season averaging 10.5 points per game, followed by classmate Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) with 9.8 points per outing.  Oakes tops the boards for the Raiders averaging 6.3 per game followed by Georgia Gier (Mercer Island, Wash.) with 5.3 per outing.

 

The Bison had three players score 16 points in their most recent win at Cotterell Court.  Cosima Higham led Bucknell with 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Lauren Schober and Morgan Wrightson each posted another 16 points.  Amanda Brown currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.8 points a game while Higham leads the Bison in rebounding with 7.7 boards per outing.
