LEWISBURG, PA. (1/10/09) – Erin McGraw (Penfield, N.Y.), Emily Murphy (Syracuse, N.Y.), Ashley Bottger (Weston, Conn.), and Caren Guyett (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) were all triple winners as Colgate remained undefeated on the season with a 191.5-106.5 victory over Bucknell, Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium.
The Raiders won 13 of 16 events to improve to 5-0 on the season, while the Bison fall to 5-2 overall.
Colgate captured the top two spots in five events, while flexing its muscles in the 500 free and 100 fly by claiming the top three finishes in those events.
McGraw teamed with Murphy, Lisa Marchi (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Bottger to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.11, the eighth quickest time in the program's history. The sophomore returned to lead a Colgate one-two finish with Bev Walker (Marietta, Ga.) in the 200 back with a winning time of 2:05.47. McGraw capped off her day by touching with a winning time of 56.72 in the 100 fly, ahead of Marchi and Walker who finished second and third respectively.
Murphy's individual victories came in both breaststroke events. The senior won the 100 yard event with a time of 1:05.93 and then returned to capture the 200 race with the 10th best time in Colgate history with a time of 2:21.53.
Bottger swept the 50 and 100 yard free races with winning times of 24.05 and 52.06. Emily Peck (Brooktondale, N.Y.) finished right behind the senior in the 100 at 52.66.
Guyett captured three individual victories on the day. She led a one-two-three sweep with Jenna Daly (Garden City, N.Y.) and Emily Kelly (Potomac, Md.) in the 500 free. The sophomore registered a winning time of 5:09.06 to win her third event of the day. She and Erica Derlath (Garden City, N.Y.) finished one-two in the 400 IM with times of 4:30.97 and 4:32.90 respectively. Earlier, Guyett posted a 2:06.12 in the 200 fly to win the event ahead of Marchi (2:07.95).
Colgate doubled in the 1650 and 200 free as Derlath and Marchi won the respective events. Derlath posted the sixth best time in the program's history with a 17:10.53 ahead of Daly. Marchi and Peck went one-two in the 200 with times of 1:54.94 and 1:55.64 respectively.
The Raiders' final win came from Becky Fisher (Cooperstown, N.Y.). The sophomore posted 243.08 points to win three-meter diving.
Colgate returns to action next Saturday as it travels to square off with arch-rival Cornell. The meet starts at 2 p.m. in Ithaca. Diving begins at 11 a.m.
