HAMILTON, N.Y. (12/19/2008) - Colgate University women's hockey player
Kiira Dosdall (Fairfield, Conn.) has been invited to Blaine, Minn., for the USA Hockey's Women's Holiday Camp from Dec. 26-31.
Dosdall, who is one of the top three scoring defenseman in the nation averaging 0.94 points per game, is also just one of four ECAC Hockey players training for a spot on the U.S. Women's National Team, which will participate in world championships in the early part of 2009.
The 2009 IIHF Women's World Championship takes place Apr. 4-12 in Hameenlinna, Finland and includes the USA, Canada, China, Finland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland. The U.S. won gold at the event in 2008.
With a 10-member coaching staff on hand, the U.S. athletes will be split into three teams for daily practices, strength training and scrimmages.
The Raiders return to the ice on Jan. 2 when they host No. 9-ranked Boston College at Starr Rink.
