Jake Sandler was named an Assistant Coach of Colgate Men's and Women's Tennis in October 2019.
Sandler joined the Raiders after a stellar collegiate career that included a pair of all-conference nods while he played for Washington College in Chestertown, Md. He also played at number one doubles for the Shoremen all four years and played number one singles his senior year. He was also a team captain his senior season and twice named team MVP.
"We are absolutely thrilled to bring Jake on board to the Colgate Tennis family and coaching staff,” said Pennington. “He brings a genuine passion and love for the game and hunger to the program. He had an outstanding playing background as the number one for Washington and is a proven winner. Jake will step in and hit the ground running and be a huge help to us on and off the court with both teams."
Sandler helped lead the Raiders to two successful seasons in his second year at Colgate. The men’s team finished the regular season at 3-5 with a 3-2 Patriot League while the women’s team finished 4-4 in the regular season with a 2-3 league record.
In his first year in Hamilton, Sandler helped the men and women pull off a major turnaround. The men, 7-3, matched their win total from the previous year in only ten outings before seeing the season cut short. The women cruised to a 7-2 record after winning only five matches the previous year.
Sandler had worked as a tennis instructor at various locations in the Empire State for the past six summers.
The Lynbrook, N.Y., native graduated with a degree in Communications Media Studies from Washington College in 2019.
