Jim Nagle

Jim Nagle returns for his sixth season on the sidelines for the Colgate men's lacrosse team.
In 2006, Nagle led Colgate lacrosse to new heights as the Raiders captured their first regular season Patriot League and registered a program-record tying 11 wins. He was rewarded with his second Patriot League Coach of the Year award in three seasons. He also was voted the league's top coach in 2003.
Colgate climbed into the national lacrosse scene in 2006, earning a ranking as high as 17th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and 18th in the USILA Coaches' Poll. Nagle mentored five all-Patriot League players in 2006, an honorable mention All-American, and a North-South Senior All-Star.
Nagle sports a 41-32 record at Colgate and is 106-71 in his 11 seasons as a head coach. His 41 victories and .562 win percentage as the Raiders’ boss is the second most by a Raider men’s lacrosse coach.
The Raiders have never finished under .500 in Nagle's four seasons at the helm.
In his second year, Nagle was chosen as the Patriot League's Coach of the Year after leading the Raiders to an 8-7 overall record, and a 4-2 mark in the Patriot League. Colgate's finish was the best since the 1997 squad went 8-7.
Inheriting a team that went 3-10 in 2001, Nagle’s coached the 2002 Colgate team to a 7-7 overall record and a 3-3 conference mark in his inaugural season. Nagle also saw two Raiders in the national rankings as Joe Parker ranked 26th in Division I in points per game (3.43) and Chris Hettler ranked 25th in save percentage (.577).
Prior to his coming to Hamilton, Nagle was the head coach at SUNY Oneonta and took a program that had suffered through several losing seasons and quickly turned the Red Dragons into a winning team. In his five seasons, Nagle guided the program to an overall record of 65-39, upset five nationally ranked teams and led Oneonta to a #11 national ranking.
In his final season with the Red Dragons, Nagle led the team to a 9-5 record and earned SUNYAC Coach of the Year honors.
In 2000, the Red Dragons won their first ECAC Division III Upstate New York title with a 10-7 mark. Nagle also coached second team All-American and North-South MVP Brian Dooley.
In 1999, Oneonta earned its first-ever NCAA Division III berth with a 10-4 record and a #11 national ranking. The Red Dragons were Empire League Champions and Nagle was named the Empire League Coach of the Year. He was also the recipient of the Francis “Babe” Kraus Award as the USILA National Coach of the Year.
In 1998, the Red Dragons posted a 13-2 record, the best record in school history, and were Empire League champions and ECAC finalists. Their regular season mark of 12-1 was the best record in the country and Nagle received his first Empire League Coach of the Year honor.
his first season, Oneonta finished 11-6 and earned the school’s first-ever berth in the ECAC Tournament. That year, they defeated #20 Springfield College, the first upset of a nationally ranked team in school history. Prior to Oneonta, Nagle was an assistant coach at The Stony Brook School on Long Island, where he saw his team win the Suffolk County Class “B” title.
Nagle began his coaching career as an assistant at Springfield College in 1992 where he saw the Pride win the 1993 ECAC championship and 1994 NCAA Division II championship. While at Springfield he earned a master’s of physical education.
Nagle is a 1992 graduate of Loyola College where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business. While there, he helped his alma mater earn four straight appearances in the NCAA Division I Tournament including a berth in the 1990 title game.
He played scholastically at Ward Melville where he was part of a 24-0 squad that won the New York State championship in 1988.
Nagle and his wife Kelly reside in Hamilton with their daughters Jamie, Ryan, and Meghan.
