Andrew Dickson, a former Raider hockey player, is in his ninth season as an assistant men's ice hockey coach at Colgate University. Dickson's primary reponsibilities include working with the team's forwards and playing a major role in the program's recruiting efforts.

Since his return to Hamilton, Dickson has helped Colgate to two NCAA tournament appearances, the 2004 and 2006 ECAC Hockey League regular-season titles, and three straight 20-win seasons for the first time in school history.

Last season, Dickson helped coach two Raider forwards to all-league status: Tyler Burton and Jesse Winchester both earned spots on the second team. Also last season, Burton became the first Colgate forward to score his 100th career point before his senior season since all-time leading scorer Mike Harder achieve the feat in 1996.

Dickson captained the 1992-93 Colgate team and led the Raiders in scoring with 43 points. He was also a key member of the 1989-90 team that won the ECAC regular-season and tournament championships, and advanced to the NCAA championship game. Dickson finished his Colgate career with 122 points, and ranks 26th on the Raiders' all-time scoring list. He left Colgate as the school's all-time leader in games played with 135, and is now tied for 14th in that category.

Dickson played professional hockey from 1993 to 1999 in several leagues throughout the world. He began his pro career with the Lee-Valley Lions of the British Hockey League. In 17 games, he scored 75 points on 36 goals and 39 assists. Dickson finished the season with the Utica Bulldogs of the Colonial Hockey League, where he scored 11 goals and added 30 assists for 41 points in 39 games, and led the team in points per contest.

The following year, Dickson skated with four different teams in the U.S., including three in the East Coast Hockey League. He appeared in 11 games in the U.S., during which he recorded one goal and seven assists for eight points.

Dickson joined Memmingen of the German League for the 1995-96 campaign. That year, he led the league in goals and points, and paced the team in powerplay goals, shorthanded goals and plus/minus. During the 1996-97 season, Dickson led the league in scoring and shorthanded goals. He paced his team in goals, assists, points and plus/minus while leading Memmingen to a second-place league finish.

Dickson also led Memmingen in goals, assists, points and plus/minus during the 1997-98 campaign. He finished second in the league in scoring, and helped his team claim the west division championship. Dickson finished the season by playing seven games with the Saginaw Lumber Kings of the United Hockey League.

In his final season as a professional player, Dickson played in the English Premier League for the Division I Blackburn Hawks. He led the English Cup in points with 112 during the 1998-99 season, and finished third in the league in scoring. Dickson led Blackburn in goals, assists, points and plus/minus.

Dickson graduated from Colgate in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He and his wife, Alison, have a newborn son, Brock.
