Former Colgate basketball captain Jeremy Ballard is in his third season as an assistant coach at his alma mater. His coaching responsibilities include recruiting, scouting, assisting with academic support, organizing the film exchange program, directing the daily summer camp activities, as well as working with the guards in practice.
A 2003 graduate of Colgate, Ballard earned four varsity letters with the Raiders, and served as a co-captain in his senior season. He played in 63 games during his career including 18 starting assignments during the 2002-03 season.
He was only the third two-time winner of the prestigious ECAC Merit Medal Award in Colgate history, and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2002 and 2003.
In 2001, Ballard received the team's Hasan Brown Award, given to the player who typifies the spirit of Colgate basketball, and in 2003 he was the recipient of the Coaches Award as the best defensive player.
Ballard has serviced as a Program Coordinator for the Office of Undergraduate Studies for the last two summers. He also served as a member of the NCAA Recertification Steering Committee and the Subcommittee on Equity and Student Athlete Welfare.
Ballard's sister Megan played four years on the Colgate women's basketball team where she first-team all-Patriot League, the 2005 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team as a first-year player.
