Jordan Belfiori was named to Colgate’s football staff in 2018 as an outside linebackers coach. He was promoted to co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach in 2021 before moving to his present position as full-time defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach in 2022.

Belfiori’s success at the helm of the defense has continued this past season, where he helped place four Raiders on All-Patriot League teams, including First-Team All-League defensive back selection Owen Goss.

In 2018, Belfiori's first season with the program, Colgate put together 10 wins for just the fourth time in program history en route to its 10th Patriot League championship. The Raiders jumped out to a perfect 9-0 start that year, allowing just 29 points during the win streak and tying the NCAA FCS record with five shutouts in one season. Over a seven-game stretch, Colgate allowed 3, 0, 0, 3, 0, 0 and 0 points.

Still in 2018, the Raiders knocked off James Madison 23-20 on a game-ending field goal in the first home playoff contest since 2003. Colgate then fell to eventual national champion North Dakota State in the quarterfinal round.

Belfiori’s linebackers helped the Raiders lead the nation in scoring defense at 9.3, total defense at 237.7 and pass efficiency defense with an 88.77 rating. This despite the fact that the Raiders finished their season against arguably the toughest three-game stretch in program history in Army, James Madison and North Dakota State.

Both Dillon DeIuliis and John Steffen earned All-Patriot League Third Team accolades under Belfiori’s guidance for their roles in the historical season.

Before arriving at Colgate prior to the 2018 season, Belfiori spent two graduate assistant campaigns at Western Michigan. While with the Broncos, Belfiori served as an assistant linebackers coach, providing attention to detail to his areas of expertise in coaching, video and recruiting.

Western Michigan finished 6-6 in 2017, including an amazing 71-68 win in seven overtimes at Buffalo.

Before WMU, Belfiori coached two years at Wayne State in Detroit. The Warriors posted winning records both seasons, including a 7-4 mark in 2016. Three of those four losses came against top-25 opponents. Belfiori earned his first coaching stripes during a three-year tenure at L'anse Creuse High School-North in Macomb, Michigan.

Belfiori earned his bachelor's degree in education from Central Michigan University in 2012, and he completed his master's degree from Wayne State in sports administration in December 2019.
