Megan Monahan is in her second season as an assistant coach with the Colgate field hockey program. Her primary responsibilities include working with the attack unit, as well as assisting with player development, practice preparation, video editing, and recruiting. A standout player at Lafayette College, Monahan was a National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America Second Team selection as a senior. She led the Leopards to the 2002 Patriot League Championship and a No. 18 national ranking. That season, Lafayette recorded a school- and conference-record 19 consecutive victories. As a senior co-captain, Monahan led the nation in goals (33) and points (80). After earning four Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week awards in nine weeks, she was unanimously chosen as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. Monahan was named to the All-Patriot League First Team for the third time, and to the All-ECAC and NFHCA All-Mideast Region first teams. As a junior, she was a second-team All-ECAC pick and a first-team all-region selection, and she was a second-team all-region honoree as a sophomore. A member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, Monahan also competed in the NFHCA North/South Senior All-Star Game and was honored as the top field hockey player by the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Monahan still holds the league and school records for career points (160), career goals (65), single-season points (80) and single-season goals (33). She tied the Patriot League Tournament record with eight points (three goals, two assists) en route to being named tournament MVP in 2002. After graduation, Monahan played for the Montreal Dita of the Indoor Premier League. Previously, she worked as a field hockey associate at the Dita Field Hockey Company and as a loan specialist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Allentown, Pa. Since joining the Raider staff, Monahan has continued to develop her coaching skills by working camps throughout the northeast. During the summer of 2005, Monahan coached at camps hosted by Bucknell University, the University of Delaware and Hartwick College, as well as the Eastern Field Hockey Camp. In July, Monahan joined several U.S. national team players at a camp hosted by Lafayette for the second straight summer. In addition, she served as a USFHA futures coach for three years. Monahan graduated from Lafayette in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in economics and business. She resides in Hamilton.
