Emily Conroe rejoined the Colgate field hockey staff as an assistant coach in August 2021 and helped the team for the fall season. In the spring of 2022, she transitioned to the volunteer assistant with the addition of Bridgette Street to the staff. 

Conroe previously served as an assistant coach during the 2018 and 2019 seasons before leaving to work on her degree to become a physical therapist assistant.

Conroe enjoyed a stellar playing career at Wake Forest, where she was a four-year starter for the Demon Deacons from 2013-2016. She tallied eight goals and 17 assists while helping lead the team to 50 victories during her career.

In 2014, Conroe started all 21 matches and scored three goals to help lead Wake Forest to an ACC Championship as a sophomore. Conroe also started every match in 2015, took a team-best 87 penalty corners, and led the team with 10 assists.

Conroe earned a spot on the 2015 ACC Preseason All-Conference team and participated in the 2016 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game. She also was a member of the USA Women’s High-Performance Training South Region and played her way to a national championship with the U-21 Women’s National Team in 2014.

Along with her playing career, Conroe has also developed a strong coaching background. She worked with the CNY Field Hockey Club as a coach for U-14, U-16, and U-19 athletes in outdoor and indoor field hockey from 2013-2018. She previously served as an assistant varsity field hockey coach at Afton Central School, where she led the team to a division II league title and sectional final match. 

Originally from Greene, N.Y., Conroe graduated from Wake Forest in 2017 with a degree in history and a minor in entrepreneurship and social enterprise.
