Austin Smith for Hobey

Colgate University Athletics

"Austin Smith is clearly one one of the best college hockey players in the nation this year. His skill set and statistics speak for themselves but like all great players he is more than just numbers. He plays the game with such passion and intensity but perhaps what separates him from the pack is his hockey sense. He thinks the game at a totally different level than most players. He anticipates well and can read and analyze a play live where it would take most guys an hour of video to do the same. He is the complete package. Great player, great student, exceptional character and simply makes people around him better." - Colgate Head Coach Don Vaughan

“Austin Smith’s high skill and competition level are a lethal combination. After seeing him first hand this season it is no surprise to me that he is leading the nation in goal scoring.” - Ferris State Head Coach Bob Daniels

"Over the 17 years as head coach I don't know if I have seen a more dangerous player than Austin. Everytime he is on the ice he creates a scoring chance in many different ways his consistency has been unbeleivable as a marked man going into games." - Cornell Head Coach Mike Schafer
