Sophomore Year (2009-10): Indoor Track: Competed in distance events for the Raiders. Ran a season-best of 5:24.22 in the 1 Mile run at the Syracuse Invitational. At the Lafayette/Rider Winter Games, Eckerstrom ran a season-best of 10:40.15 in the 3,000m.
Freshman Year (2008-09): Outdoor Track: Competed primarily in distance events. Ran a season-best time of 5:06.49 in the 1,500-meter run at the Bison Classic. She also posted a season-best time of 11:09.35 in the 3,000-meter run at the Sam Howell Invitational.
Indoor Track: Ran a season-best time of 5:33.35 in the mile at the Patriot League Championship and posted a season-best time of 11:08.32 in the 3,000-meter run at the Upstate Challenge.
Before Colgate: Was a three-year letter winner in cross country and earned three total letters in indoor and outdoor track and field. Earned all-Gazette first-team honors in cross country in 2005 and 2006 and garnered all-Met Honorable Mention accolaes in 2005. Eckerstrom captured all-Gazette first-team honors for indoor and outdoor track in 2006. She ran a career-best 5k cross country time of 18:23 in 2006 and helped lead the Jaguars to the cross country county, regional, and division championship in 2005 and to both the county and division titles in 2006. Eckerstrom was also was a key member of the track teams that captured the outdoor county, regional, and division championships in 2006 and the division title in 2007. She competed in the 1,600, 3,200 and 800 during her scholastic career and was the outdoor state champion in the 3,200 her senior year. Eckerstrom served as a team captain of all three squads as a senior and was selected as the JAG Award recipient as Northwest High School's top athlete. Voted as the Most Committed Player for outdoor track in 2006 and the Most Tenacious in 2007. Garnered the "Minas in Motion" award three consecutive years. Also lettered in lacrosse. Was a member of the National Honor Society, National Math Honor Society, and an active member of student government.
Personal: Emma Karin Eckerstrom was born in Rockville, Maryland. She is the daughter of Kurt and Pam Eckerstrom and has two sisters. Her major is Political Science.
