A two-year varsity member of the Apex Friendship Patriots soccer team, playing in the 4A East Conference…as a right back he recorded nine goals and 16 assists through two years…in his senior year, Cardenas was named a captain and recorded six goals and nine assists…was a state semi-finalist and got named to the 2022 All-Conference team…on the club side, he played for Wake FC in the MLS Next, starting in 2021…Cardenas helped his team record a first-place finish in the MLS Next Flex Southeast Division…was also a Disney ESPN U17 National Champion, and a December 2021 Jefferson Cup Champion (4 consecutive years - 2nd and 3rd divisions): 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020
