Poppinga Makes Four Saves in 0-0 Draw

Raiders head to George Washington on Sunday

The Raiders and Cornell battle to a scoreless draw at Beyer-Small '76 Field on Thursday night. 


MOMENTS OF THE MATCH
  • Cornell created a chance in the opening 10 minutes but Ella Poppinga kept the Big Red out.
  • Colgate's best chance came late in the half after a corner kick fell to Darby Campbell but she was unable to connect cleanly on the strike and the Cornell keeper claimed the ball.
  • Both teams finished the first half with two shots on target.
  • The Big Red had a cross roll across the goal mouth but nobody was able to get on the end of it.
  • Lydia Thornton had a header and a curled effort turned aside late in the match as Colgate pushed for the late winner.
  • Neither team could find the back of the net in the end.
NOTES
  • Ella Poppinga made four saves to secure her third clean sheet of the season. Poppinga earned four clean sheets in her career prior to this season.
  • This is the first time since 2013 the Raiders have played two consecutive games with a regulation goal by either team.
  • Darby Campbell and Sophia Ro anchored the Colgate defense each playing all 90 minutes.
  • Lydia Thornton led the Raiders with five shots including three on target.
