Colgate Collects Two Points at Princeton

Dyck ties career-high 41 saves in net

PRINCETON, N.J. - Max Nagel and Jack Brandt netted goals in the shootout with Reid Dyck able to keep out two of the three Princeton shooters as the Raiders earned the extra point with their first shootout win of the season.

Nagel scored Colgate's lone goal in the 1-1 tie on Friday night at Hobey Baker Rink.

COACH HARDER'S COMMENTS
"Another great ECAC game between two good teams. Happy to get out of there with two points and shift our focus to Saturday night."

HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate showed offensive intent early, with Jake Schneider and Isaiah Norlin attempting shots, the latter hitting the pipe. The Tigers responded with pressure, but Reid Dyck stood firm in goal, making several saves to keep the score level.

Despite a power play opportunity following a penalty on Labelle, the Tigers' defense, led by Dyck, successfully killed the penalty without conceding. The first period concluded with both teams locked in at 0-0.

At the 10:32 mark of the second frame, Max Nagel broke through with a goal, assisted by Michael Neumeier and Ryan Sullivan. Antonio Fernandez and Dyck were instrumental in blocking the Tigers' attempts, preserving the advantage.

Colgate's defense remained resilient, successfully blocking multiple shots from the Tigers as the period progressed. The period concluded with Colgate holding a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers applied early pressure in the third period, but Dyck consistently turned away multiple attempts to maintain a stalemate. Despite Colgate's defensive efforts, the Tigers managed to equalize at 11:23 when Tyler Rubin scored an even-strength goal, assisted by Seamus Latta and Nick Marciano.

Towards the period's end, Colgate went on a power play at 18:12 following a slashing penalty on the Tigers' Luc Pelletier. However, despite late attempts, including a shot by Josh Niedermayer, Colgate could not capitalize. The game headed to overtime knotted at one apiece.

In the overtime period, Colgate initiated play with Sullivan winning the opening faceoff against Kai Daniells. Early pressure was applied by Colgate, as Norlin registered a shot that was saved by the Tigers' Arthur Smith. Colgate maintained its defensive strength, evidenced by Labelle blocking a shot attempt from the Tigers' Marciano. The overtime period wasn't enough and a shootout was needed to determine the extra point.

The shootout period began with Labelle missing his attempt against the Tigers' goalie Smith. The Tigers initially gained an advantage when Brendan Gorman scored against Dyck. However, Colgate's Nagel quickly leveled the score with a successful shot past Smith.

The turning point came when Dyck stopped Daniells' attempt, allowing Colgate to seize the lead with Jack Brandt's successful shot. Dyck then secured the victory by denying David Jacobs, concluding the shootout and securing the extra point for the Raiders.
