Colgate Drops to Navy

Lara Cook leads Raiders with eight points

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Colgate women's basketball was limited to single-digit scoring in the first two quarters, ultimately falling 66–38 to Navy on the road at Dave Smalley Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first quarter began with a tight defensive battle as both Colgate and Navy exchanged early turnovers. The Mids scored the first two points on a layup, but the Raiders responded with a layup by Grace Klag.

Colgate was then held scoreless for seven minutes while Navy produced an 11-0 run. Amarah Streiff ended the Mids' momentum with a layup, but Navy hit a late three-pointer to lead 16-4.

Navy maintained a strong offensive performance in the second quarter, outscoring the Raiders 19-9. For every Raider basket, the Mids responded with two points.

Colgate closed out the quarter with intensity, producing a 5–0 run, including a layup from Klag and a three-pointer from Streiff.

In a closely contested third quarter, Navy scored early, but Colgate began to heat up mid-quarter with an 8–0 run, scoring two three-pointers and a layup to trail 40–23.

The run was short-lived, as Navy responded with eight unanswered points to extend its lead. Laila Hankerson closed out the third quarter with a pair of free throws, leaving Colgate trailing 48–25.

In a game defined by runs, Navy opened the fourth quarter with a 7–0 start. Colgate scored 13 points in the second half of the quarter, making six of 15 field goals, including five points from Lara Cook. The deficit proved too large to overcome, as the Mids claimed a 66–38 victory.
