Raiders Fall at Union, 7-6

Colgate falls in 13-goal thriller

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.
- The Raiders dropped a 13-goal thriller to Union on Friday night at M&T Bank Center. After falling behind 1-0 in the opening 11 seconds, Colgate rallied with four unanswered before ultimately falling 7-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first period began with the Union taking an early lead just 11 seconds in, as Lucas Buzziol scored with an assist from Connor Smith. Colgate responded on the power play at 10:40, with Max Nagel netting the equalizer, assisted by Isaiah Norlin.

Colgate then seized momentum, scoring two even-strength goals in quick succession. Easton Wainwright put his team ahead at 9:54, assisted by Jacob Napier and Ryan Spinale. Shortly after, Jake Schneider extended the lead to 3-1 with help from Daniel Panetta and Simone Dadiè.

Panetta capped the period with a short-handed, unassisted goal at 5:08, making the score 4-1. The period closed with Colgate holding a solid lead.

The second period began with the Garnet Chargers narrowing the gap quickly, as Tyler Dunbar scored at 16:36 to make it 4-2. Colgate's defense held firm initially, but the Garnet Chargers capitalized again with Ben Muthersbaugh's unassisted goal at 8:19 to make it 4-3. The Garnet Chargers tied it with a power-play goal by Riley Brueck at 7:49, but Colgate responded with a goal from Dadiè at 4:36 to put Colgate back in front, 5-4.

However, Union's Nate Hanley converted a penalty shot at 3:00 to tie the game back at five apiece. Despite Colgate's efforts to regain control, the Garnet Chargers took the lead with another goal by Muthersbaugh at 2:43. The period closed with Colgate down 6-5.

Colgate began the third period with immediate pressure, capitalizing just 1:17 into the frame. Ryan Sullivan scored at even strength, assisted by Nagel and Simon Labelle, to level the game at 6-6.

Union responded midway through the period with a power-play goal from Buzziol, assisted by Hanley and Dunbar, regaining a 7-6 lead. Despite Colgate's persistent offensive efforts, including multiple shots on goal, the score stood with Union leading 7-6 as the period concluded.
