Öhman Scores Overtime Winner

Patella nets tying goal with one minute to go

HAMILTON
- Tobias Öhman won a race to a loose puck and scored his second goal of the night 1:38 into the overtime period to lift Colgate to its first win of the season.

Down a goal with two minutes to go, the Raiders pulled Reid Dyck for the extra skater. On an offensive zone faceoff, Colgate dropped the puck to Tyson Doucette and then slid the puck down low to Max Nagel who found Davide Patella in the low slot. Patella fired a one-timer into the back of the net to tie the game at three apiece and send it to overtime.

First Period
  • 6:13 | Tobias Öhman got the scoring started on a 2-on-1 with Max Nagel. Nagel slid it across to Öhman who buried it to put Colgate up 1-0.
  • 8:04 | Luke Malboeuf dropped a pass to Jake Schneider at the point. Schneider fired a shot that got caught up in traffic and squeaked through to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead in the opening eight minutes.
  • 9:06 | After a flurry of chances that left Reid Dyck on his back, the River Hawks scored to make it 2-1.
  • 16:16 | A shot from the blue line was tipped in front by Misha Volotovskii of UMass Lowell, tying the game at two apiece.
Second Period
  • 0:19 | Colgate went on the power play early in the second period but were unable to capitalize.
  • 10:29 | Elias Zimmerman was called for an interference penalty but the Raiders successfully killed the power play for the River Hawks.
Third Period
  • 6:51 | The Raiders earned another power play but couldn't find the back of the net.
  • 11:44 | After initially killing the 5-on-3, Colgate suffered on the penalty kill as UMass Lowell took a 3-2 lead.
  • 18:44 | Davide Patella blasted a one-timer past Cole Moore and tied the game at three.
Overtime
  • 1:38 | Öhman scored the game-winner after gathering a loose puck and firing past Moore underneath his glove.
