Colgate Drops Straight Sets to Navy

Gannon logs career-high seven blocks

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Colgate jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Navy, but the Midshipmen's offensive persistence allowed them to reverse sweep the Raiders and secure a 3-2 victory Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders edged Navy in sets one and two, 25-23 and 25-22, respectively, before the Mids rallied to win three straight sets, 25-22, 25-19 and 15-12.

Coach Baker's Comments
"Obviously, it's not the result we wanted after gutting out the first two sets. We looked a bit lethargic and sloppy as the match progressed. I felt our inexperience showed up, and Navy took advantage of some defensive breakdowns. This league will punish you for lack of discipline, and that's what happened today.

"We are excited to be home for the next five straight matches and get the chance to play in front of our fans. There is still a lot of season left, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we are made of."
