Raiders Post Top Performances in Ithaca

Women's side posts top three results

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Colgate women's and men's track and field teams posted several solid performances Saturday at the Cornell Upstate Challenge, competing against a strong field at Barton Hall.

Women

Colgate's women were led by a strong showing in the distance events. Junior Frances Munger placed third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:00.14, while freshman Claire Story followed closely in fourth at 11:05.01. The Raiders added three more finishers in the event, including freshman Beatriz Engels (11:16.75), sophomore Penelope Schenkel (11:18.91) and junior Abby Poplawski (11:28.15).
In the mile, freshman Dolores Maxwell clocked a time of 5:37.60, gaining valuable experience in a competitive field.
Colgate was also represented in the field events, as sophomore Georgia Deep cleared 2.85 meters in the pole vault to finish ninth overall.

Men

On the men's side, Colgate recorded multiple top-10 finishes in middle- and long-distance events. Junior Finn Kosich finished eighth in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:37.16, while junior Jack Gabrielle followed in ninth at 2:42.39.
In the mile, the Raiders placed four athletes, led by sophomore Finley Tobin, who crossed the line in 4:28.59. Sophomore Ryan Wilson followed at 4:30.82, with freshmen Joseph Belford (4:32.05) and Michael Doyle (4:37.10) rounding out the Colgate contingent.
Colgate also saw success in the 3,000 meters, as sophomore Mason Telatnik placed sixth with a time of 9:11.68, and senior Andrew Sullivan finished seventh at 9:35.81.
In the sprints and field events, junior Jedidiah Guenthner competed in both the 60-meter dash (7.34) and long jump, placing ninth in the long jump with a mark of 5.91 meters. Freshman Jack Latson represented Colgate in the throwing events, finishing 11th in the shot put (9.33m) and sixth in the weight throw (11.66m).
