Raiders Return For Indoor Track Action

Kiran George highlights with first-place finish

ITHACA, N.Y. — Colgate University turned in another productive weekend on the indoor track, earning an event victory and multiple top-five finishes at the Cornell Southern Tier Invitational on Saturday.

COACH FRANCE'S COMMENTS

"This meet was an important first step in establishing a solid foundation for the season. Coming off a break and starting a new year, the focus was on shaking off the rust, competing with purpose, and setting the tone for the work ahead. We saw encouraging efforts across the board and plenty to build on as we move forward."

WOMEN

Junior Kiran George led the Raiders on the women's side, capturing first place in the high jump after clearing 1.67 meters. George also competed in the 60-meter hurdles earlier in the meet, advancing through the preliminary round.
In the women's distance events, Colgate placed several athletes in the top 10. First-year Claire Story recorded a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 meters in 11:07.81, followed by junior Frances Munger in seventh. Sophomore Penelope Schenkel added a top-10 result in the same event.
Colgate's women were also represented in the mile, where first-year Dolores Maxwell and sophomore Anna Moore posted solid efforts in a competitive field.
In the field events, junior Melinda Haagensen placed fourth in the pole vault, while senior Julianna Hallyburton and sophomore Georgia Deep also competed for the Raiders.

MEN

On the men's side, junior Jack Gabrielle led Colgate in the 800 meters, placing fourth with a time of 2:04.76. The Raiders added depth in the mile, with junior Owen DeMatt, first-year Michael Doyle, sophomore Finley Tobin and first-year Joseph Belford all recording finishes.
Colgate's men produced strong results in the 3,000 meters, led by junior Nicholas Larson, who placed second overall in 8:55.69. Sophomore Mason Telatnik followed with a fourth-place finish, while senior Andrew Sullivan placed sixth.
The Raiders' men's 4x400-meter relay team also reached the podium, finishing third overall in 3:31.68.
In the jumps, senior Samuel Epstein placed third in the pole vault, while junior Jedidiah Guenthner added a sixth-place finish in the long jump.
Colgate's throws group continued to gain experience, with first-year Joel Douzanis placing seventh in the shot put and adding a top-20 finish in the weight throw. Christian Radic also competed in both throwing events.

UP NEXT

The Raiders are back in action next week in Ithaca on Saturday and Boston on Sunday. Both meets will take place all day.
