"We are so much better than we showed tonight. We will come out with something to prove tomorrow."
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first period began with Colgate facing an early challenge after a penalty by Simone Dadiè, but the team successfully killed off the power play with Reid Dyck making crucial saves. Colgate then generated offensive pressure, highlighted by Daniel Panetta's attempts on goal, but they were unable to convert against the Quinnipiac University ice hockey team led by Dylan Silverstein.
Momentum shifted as the Bobcats scored four times in the period, with Antonin Verreault, Tyler Borgula, Chris Pelosi, and Victor Czerneckianair each finding the net. Colgate continued to press offensively, including a late power play opportunity, but could not break through. The period concluded with a 4-0 deficit for Colgate.
Andrew Takacs provided crucial saves throughout the period, denying several attempts from the Bobcats, including shots by Elliott Groenewold and Graham Sward. Colgate remained active offensively, with Isaiah Norlin and Easton Wainwright both contributing wide attempts on goal.
Colgate had opportunities to capitalize during power plays, initiated by a penalty on Groenewold, but the Bobcats' defense held firm. The period concluded with no changes in the score, as both teams were unable to convert opportunities, leaving the scoreboard unchanged at 4-0 heading into the third period.
The Bobcats extended their lead with an even-strength goal by Braden Blace, assisted by Matthew Lansing and Groenewold. Colgate capitalized in the third on a power play opportunity when Norlin scored, assisted by Michael Neumeier and Max Nagel, reducing the deficit to 5-1.Â
The period concluded with a 5-1 score in favor of the Bobcats.
