Raiders Complete Sweep Against Leopards

A third set comeback allows the Raiders to finish 3–0

HAMILTON — Colgate swept Lafayette 3–0 to remain undefeated in Patriot League play. The Raiders dominated the match, posting a .387 hitting percentage and recording 50 kills to the Leopards' 32. Colgate also excelled defensively with 57 digs and 10 block assists. Despite a tighter third set, Colgate's seven service aces contributed to the decisive victory.

"I thought our passing game was very good tonight which allowed our setters to run a very productive offense.  I was most proud of our fight in the 3 rd set against a strong Lafayette team. Credit goes to our home crowd for once again making a big impact on the match."

Set 1 (Colgate 25, Lafayette14)
  • Colgate opened strong with a 5-0 run, highlighted by a service ace and two kills from Tiana Owens, establishing a 6-1 lead.  
  • The Raiders extended their lead to 14-3 through a series of Lafayette attack errors and kills from Milan Bayless, Jordyn Moore, and Maddie Rudolph.  
  • Lafayette showed resilience with a 4-0 run, narrowing the gap to 16-10.
  • Colgate closed the set decisively, concluding with a 25-14 triumph, featuring a final kill by Rudolph.  
Set 2 (Colgate 25, Lafayette 14)
  • Colgate opened with a strong start, gaining a 5–1 lead, highlighted by two service aces from Owens.
  • A series of kills from Owens and Bayless extended the Raiders' advantage to 13–4.
  • Lafayette attempted a brief comeback, narrowing the score to 14–7 after consecutive errors by Colgate.
  • Owens helped the Raiders through a seven-point stretch from two kills and back-to-back service aces to lead 22–8.
  • The Raiders responded with a dominant finish, capitalizing on three Leopards attacking errors and claiming a 25–14 victory. 
Set 3 (Colgate 28, Lafayette 26)
  • Lafayette opened with a strong 6-0 run, featuring kills from Abby Nicholson and Ulichney, to establish an early 7-2 lead.  
  • Colgate responded with a series of points to narrow the gap, as Owens delivered key kills to cut the deficit 11–8.
  • The Leopards kept their distance until the Raiders earned four unanswered points late in the set to trail 21–19. 
  • A late push by the Raiders, including critical kills from Bayless, allowed them to tie the set at 24-24.
  • Colgate had three set points, but back-to-back kills from Owens secured a 28–26 win. 

GAME NOTES
  • Owens led the Raiders in kills with 17, four service aces, and a .536 hitting percentage.  
  • Bayless and Rudolph notched three block assists apiece.
  • Oster logged a career-best 21 digs and six assists.
  • Schabes recorded 25 assists and nine digs. 
  • Téa Bosanac and Sophia Towle saw their first action of the season. 

UP NEXT
The Raiders improved to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in the Patriot League with their victory. They will return to Cotterell Court tomorrow to showdown with Bucknell.
