COACH RONNING'S COMMENTS
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team created anything of note until 15 minutes into the match as UAlbany thought they had taken a 1-0 lead but the forward was called offside.
- In the 25th minute, Gavin Krauss picked out Cason Stafford just 10 yards away from goal where Stafford's strike was saved by the Great Dane keeper. Colin Hughes headed the rebound goalward but the UAlbany goalkeeper was equal to it.
- Colgate prevented a single shot on goal from UAlbany the entire first half but the match remained scoreless after 45 minutes.
- The Raiders were finally able to break the deadlock in the 64th minute. Alex St. John slipped the ball past his defender and crossed it to Cole Ramey who buried his effort to give Colgate a 1-0 lead.
- UAlbany fired a long shot with just over 10 minutes left but it went flying high.
- The Great Danes nearly equalized moments later but the shot rattled the post and went wide.
- Blake Pipkin was inches away from putting the Raiders ahead 2-0 as his effort went just wide of the right post with seven minutes to go.
- Liam Winograd kept Colgate in front as he cleared a shot off the line after UAlbany knocked a cross down right in front of goal and took a shot right across the turf.
- UAlbany kept knocking at the door but the Raiders defense held strong and got back on track with a 1-0 home victory.
