Thirteen Colgate Football Notes vs Bucknell

| By:

Raiders close out regular season at home

  • Colgate-Bucknell | Colgate and Bucknell meet for the 73rd time in a series that began in 1894. The Raiders lead the all-time series 52-20 but Bucknell has won each of the last two meetings. The Bison have never won three in a row against Colgate.

  • Senior Day | Colgate will honor its 22 seniors, which includes three fifth-years, who will be playing their final game of their maroon and white careers on Saturday. These seniors have helped lead Colgate to 20 victories during their time in Hamilton. The group will be honored during a pregame ceremony at Andy Kerr Stadium.

  • High-Scoring Tests | The last two head-to-head meetings have mirrored nearly identical scores of 48-34 and 49-34. The Bison won both of those contests that combined for 165 points. The winning team has scored 30 or more points in four of the last five head-to-head contests dating back to 2019.

  • Talking Points | After scoring 42 points against Lafayette two weeks ago, Colgate has put up  at least 40 points three times this season. The last time the Raiders had three such games was in 2018.

  • Real-Deal Rookie | First-year wide receiver Matt Fogler has five touchdown receptions in the last three games. Before that, he hadn’t caught a touchdown all season. Following his three-touchdown game at Lafayette, Fogler scored Colgate’s lone score last weekend vs. Lehigh. Fogler is a two-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week.

  • End Zone Reed | Reed Swanson has scored a touchdown in four of his last six games after a house call against Lafayette. The junior wide receiver is having a breakout season, leading the team with 806 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

  • Spreading the Wealth | Seven different receivers recorded at least one reception last week against Lehigh, marking the eighth such time in 11 games this season. Matt Fogler (3 catches for 83 yards) and Brady Hutchison (4 catches for 38 yards) were Colgate’s two leading pass-catchers.

  • Kilburg on the Rise | First-year quarterback Jackson Kilburg completed 90% of his passes and tossed two touchdown passes in relief at Lafayette. He finished 9-of-10 for 84 yards and two touchdowns. The scores were the first of Kilburg’s collegiate career.

  • Mags on a Mission | Sophomore Christian Magliacano has racked up a team-high 28 tackles over the last three games. That includes 18 solo stops, 4.5 TFLs, and a sack which came last week against Lehigh. He also has an interception during that stretch.

  • Allan Island | Sophomore defensive back Reece Allan recorded his first career interception against Lafayette. The pick came one week after he recorded a career-best 10 tackles against Merrimack.

  • Stevenson Scores | First-year tight end Michael Stevenson joined in on the firsts, earning his first career reception and touchdown on the same play at Lafayette. The Ohio native caught Kilburg’s second touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

  • Air Raiders | Colgate has recorded more than 300 passing yards six times this season – already the most such games for the program in a single season since at least 2011. Colgate’s passing offense leads the Patriot League averaging 277 yards per contest.

  • Lucky Number 13 | Colgate considers 13 to be a lucky number. The University celebrates Colgate Day every Friday the 13th. In 1817, 13 men met in the frontier settlement of Hamilton, N.Y., to found the Baptist Education Society of New York. They are said to have backed up their experiment in education with 13 dollars and 13 prayers, which is why 13 is considered a lucky number at Colgate.
