#6 Raiders Fall to #2 Ohio State

Copetti nets first career goal

HAMILTON — #2 Ohio State used a six-goal second period to push away from the Raiders as #6 Colgate fell 9-4 in the Class of 1964 Arena on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Colgate took the early lead at 6:05 with Dorothy Copetti scoring on even strength, assisted by Alexis Petford.  
  • Ohio State equalized at 9:11 when Jocelyn Amos found the back of the net, following sustained offensive pressure.  
  • Ohio State capitalized on a power play at 11:45 in the first, scored by Hilda Svensson, giving them a 2-1 lead.  
  • The Raiders responded with a power-play goal of their own at 14:15 by Avery Pickering, leveling the score at 2-2.  
  • The period ended with a 2-2 stalemate on the scoreboard.   
  • The Buckeyes extended their lead early when Sara Swiderski scored at 1:18 elapsed, assisted by Joy Dunne, bringing the score to 3-2.  
  • The Raiders quickly answered with a power-play goal by Petford at 2:41 elapsed, leveling the score at 3-3.  
  • Ohio State regained control with back-to-back goals from Kassidy Carmichael at 3:08 elapsed and Jordyn Petrie at 4:30 elapsed, putting them ahead 5-3.  
  • The Buckeyes further widened the gap as Maxine Cimoroni and Sloane Matthews scored, followed by Svensson's goal with 18:44 elapsed, concluding the period with Ohio State leading 8-3.
  • Colgate controlled the early momentum, winning multiple faceoffs and testing the Buckeyes' defense with a series of blocked and wide shots.  
  • At 5:31 elapsed, a penalty on Ohio State's Swiderski gave the Raiders a power play, but they failed to capitalize before time expired.  
  • Ohio State's Macy Rasmussen scored at 16:19 elapsed, assisted by Carmichael, to extend the lead to 9–3.  
  • Colgate responded swiftly at 16:50 elapsed when Petford scored an unassisted goal, narrowing the gap to 9–4.  
  • The Buckeyes maintained a lead of 9–4 at the end of the frame.
GAME NOTES
  • Copetti scored her first career collegiate goal.
  • Petford scored two goals, her first multi-goal game in a Raiders uniform.
  • Brooke Davis made her regular season debut with 14 saves in 20 minutes of action.
