HAMILTON — Colgate Men's Hockey won for the fourth time in five games Saturday, defeating St. Lawrence 3-2 at the Class of 1965 Arena.
"With men's basketball and men's lacrosse having big wins today the pressure was definitely on for us. Fortunately, we found a way to get the job done. Definitely not easy," said head coach Mike Harder.
Ross Mitton led the way for the Raiders, tallying his third three-point performance with a goal and two assists.
Brett Chorske also logged two points with a goal and a helper.
Colgate jumped out to an early lead when Mitton found the back of the net off passes from Chorske and Anderson just over the halfway point of the first.
Nineteen seconds into the middle frame,
Alex DiPaolo scored for the sixth-straight game to make it 2-0. Tic-tac-toe passing from Mitton to Labelle to DiPaolo led to an open look at goal, and the junior fired one home.
Greg Lapointe scored for St. Lawrence to make it a one-goal game with just over 13 minutes left.
Three and a half minutes later, Chorske pushed the Raiders' lead back to two at 3-1. Mitton played a pass toward the goal to McGuire, who found the loose puck and played it to Chorske for a tap-in.
The Saints once again cut the lead to one just under three minutes into the third with a tally from Ty Naaykens, making it 3-2.
Colgate held off the Saints for the remainder of the third thanks to some big stops from
Carter Gylander, who made 10 and the period and finished with 23 in the contest.
The Raiders made it two straight games without giving up a power play goal, going a perfect four-for-four.
