EAST MEADOWS, N.Y. — For the second straight game, Colgate and LIU went into overtime tied at 2-2, and the Sharks prevailed over the Raiders again with a 3-2 victory.
"We learned a lot this weekend and are excited to roll back into league play for the rest of the season," said head coach Mike Harder.
A late penalty in OT hurt Colgate, giving LIU a power play with two minutes remaining. Grayson Constable netted the game-winner for the second game in a row, scoring on the man advantage with 41 seconds left in the extra session.
Ethan Manderville had tied it up at 2-2 with 11:12 left in regulation.
Levi Glasman passed to
Nick Anderson, who played the puck to Manderville toward the goal. The senior settled it and shot a backhander into the goal as he fell.
His tally stopped a run of two straight LIU goals that gave the home team a 2-1 advantage. Noah Kane tied the game at 1-1 just under eight minutes into the middle frame. Zachary Nazzarett then scored 4:52 into the third to give his squad the lead.
Daniel Panetta got the game's first goal at the 12:29 mark of the first. Anderson passed to
Reid Irwin, who skated up ice before tapping it to Panetta. The sophomore skated into the left faceoff circle and fired his shot into the back of the net.
Sophomore
Nick Haas made his first career start and appearance in goal for the Raiders, recording 28 saves. He had a strong second period, stopping 15 shots.
The Raiders halted a good chance for LIU in the second after getting called for back-to-back penalties and going down two players then killing off both.
Colgate only had two power-play chances in the game, both coming in the first period, but it could not convert on either.
