Conway Rejoins Men's Hockey Staff

Helped the Raiders Reach the ECAC Semifinals During the 2021-22 Season

HAMILTON — Liam Conway has rejoined the Colgate men's hockey staff as an assistant coach/director of hockey operations.

"We are very excited to welcome Liam back to campus. His knowledge of how our program operates and ideas of continuous development make us immediately better. Liam will also help with recruiting and will be a great coach for our goalies. He is the perfect fit for our operations/goalie coach position," said Donald F. Vaughan Head Men's Hockey Coach Mike Harder '97.

Conway worked with the Raiders as their director of hockey operations during the 2021-22 season before spending last year on Bowling Green's staff in the same capacity.

During his one year with the Falcons, Conway helped the team post a 15-19-2 record, as the team placed third in the CCHA standings and reached the Mason Cup Quarterfinals.

Conway helped the Raiders to an 18-18-2 record during the 2021-22 campaign. Colgate defeated Yale and nationally-ranked Cornell to reach the ECAC Semifinals before falling to top-seeded Quinnipiac.

Conway has served as the Head of Goaltending Development at Conway Goaltending since 2015. The program, located in Cleveland, offers world-class goalie training through camps, clinics, and private training. He managed the day-to-day operations of summer camps and developed training programs that involved on and off-ice skills, conditioning, and weight training. Conway also served as a Goalie Development Leader with USA Hockey from 2020-22.

Conway spent the 2020-21 season with the Pelham Panthers of the GOJHL, serving as Assistant and Goaltending Coach. In addition to his responsibilities as the goaltending coach, he created practice plans, organized meetings, and maintained the team facilities. That year, he also organized and led goalie sessions for the Fort Erie International Academy U16 and U18 AAA programs. From 2018-20, he was the goalie coach for the GOJHL's Fort Erie Meteors and PJCHL's Niagara Riverhawks. In Fort Erie, he was also the video coach. He analyzed and cut video from practice and games to develop strategies for all position groups.
Conway is a 2021 graduate of Brock University, where he was a member of the lacrosse team.

In 2019, the Badgers were the national runner-up. He also played lacrosse at Northland College, where he also played hockey. Conway spent three seasons playing in the GOJHL, playing for the Welland Junior Canadiens, Fort Erie Meteors, Elmira Sugar Kings, and Caledonia Corvairs. In 2013-14, he led the league in saves. In 2014-15, Conway was the Meteors' MVP and earned a league MVP nomination. In 2015-16, he was part of the GOJHL's lowest GAA tandem and league champion. He is a native of Painesville, Ohio.
